The nose is one of the main features of the face, playing an important role in the overall aesthetics, symmetry and harmony of the face. In addition, the nose is also an important functional organ that participates in proper breathing and normal smelling. Any rhinoplasty procedure should also correct the functional problems of the nose, i.e., breathing smell (functional rhinoplasty).
It may be done for medical reasons, such as to correct breathing problems related to the nose or to correct nasal deformity due to trauma or birth defects. It can also be done for cosmetic reasons, which will change the shape and appearance of the nose.
After surgery there is minimal pain. The patients can take care of their self from day one. The patient usually needs to wear a special splint for the first ten days.
After surgery, there is swelling and bruising around the eyes, which starts to improve after the third day. This may take up to two weeks.
