Abdominoplasty

The belly is often a serious aesthetic problem, which can persist despite a strict diet and intensive exercise. Fortunately, modern plastic surgery can provide a solution and achieve the desired results with abdominoplasty.

What is abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty is the surgery that aims to remove extra fat and skin from the abdominal area and tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The result is a tight and flat belly.

Who are ideal candidates for abdominoplasty?

The ideal candidates for abdominoplasty are women and men, who are in good health and are not overweight, and are bothered by the size and shape of their abdomen. This is often a concern for women post-pregnancy, and for both men and women after significant weight loss.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure lasts 2 to 3.5 hours.

What anesthesia is needed?

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.

How long does recovery take?

After the surgery, the patient stays in the hospital for 24 to 48 hours. There is no strong pain, more of an intense discomfort.

The patient must wear a compression garment for 4 weeks and can return to work in 5-10 days, depending on the range of work. Exercise may resume after 6 weeks.

Are there incisions?

Yes. The length of the incision depends on the size of the problem to be corrected. A few months after the procedure, the incision appears as a thin white line, located low on the abdomen, in such a position that it is completely covered by a swimsuit or underwear.
